Weber High Lacrosse Club was organized in 2002 and first competed as a high school team in the 2002/2003 season. The club began when Tyler Aikens, a high school student, noticed a game he hadn’t seen before. The desire to participate led to his spearheading the organization of a new club, with the help of his parents. Dave Dirks, a former player, agreed to act as coach for the fledgling team and quickly instilled a love of the game in the players. 2003/2004 season and 2004/2005 season were spent under the direction of Tyler’s dad, Mark, as he dedicated himself to coaching this sport that was also new to him. In 2005/2006 former players Jeff Pendergast of BYU and Paul Goggi of Syracuse, took the helm and led the team to division playoffs and into semifinals. Each year, the number of players that are attracted to the club grows, and Weber High School now has both Varsity, Junior Varsity and Freshman/Sophmore teams. Several former players and alumni work as coaches, giving back to their team and the sport they love. Weber now competes within the Division 1 conference of Utah High School Lacrosse League and is poised to be a team to be reckoned with.
